Forest Landscape Investments in Latin America
FLILA is an IKI funded project and has the objective to help countries meet their Forest Landscape Restoration targets and commitments made under the Paris Agreement. We help investors develop viable projects, monitor the positive impacts and deliver technical assistance to farmers implementing restoration activites. This website gives an overview of options for scaling up private sector investments in FLR in Latin America, considering the triple bottom line: economic, social, environmental.
Generate revenue
Tree based supply chains generate attractive long-term revenues, access to international growth markets and resilience to commodity price fluctuations.
Create social value
FLR creates additional income and employment in rural areas, and can help formalize value chains. Working with local stakeholders ensures lasting impact on the ground.
Protect the environment
FLR activities create environmental benefits that include carbon sequestration, water protection, climate resilience and biodiversity.
The FLILA movie
The triple bottom line of investing in Forest Landscape Restoration is clear: environmental, social and economic benefits accrue when planting trees on degraded land. In this video, we show you how it works in the FLILA project and on our pilot sites in Paraguay.

The agriculture and forestry sectors are growing and exerting great pressure on natural areas. With the region expected to play an increasingly important role in global food security, this pressure will continue to ratchet up. In addition, land degradation is a major driver in greenhouse gas emissions in the region. Forest and landscape restoration can offer a solution to these increasing pressures.
